Dark Sun: Shattered Lands from 1992 …

Dark Sun Shattered Lands Ost –

Dark Sun on GOG –

From Wiki – ” Dark Sun: Shattered Lands is a turn-based role-playing video game that takes place in the Dungeons and Dragons’ campaign setting of Dark Sun. It was released for MS-DOS in a somewhat unfinished state in 1993 by Strategic Simulations,[2] and later patched to a more workable version. It was available on both floppy disk and CD-ROM, though the CD-ROM contained no additional content and was merely used to install the game to the computer’s hard drive.

It was later re-released as part of the AD&D Masterpiece Collection in 1996. In addition, Data East was developing console ports for the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation for release in 1996,[3] but they were cancelled.

The game had a sequel, Dark Sun: Wake of the Ravager, in 1994. An online MMORPG, Dark Sun Online: Crimson Sands, was released in 1996 and hosted on the T.E.N. Network.

The game was re-released in 2015 on Gog.com with support for Windows, macOS, and Linux.”

Did any1 comment the fact that it's quiet literally impossible to play the game if u don't have the book for a reference, u gotta cloud or memory stick something like a pdf of it, because u might not be able to get it forever, and not everybody wants to hack a game, or become programmer level to play it, it's actually the most essential detail, u forgot to mention, the dragon in the sewers asks u 3 questions, if u miss all of them, u have to start over, and the chances of guessing the answers are nil, because there based off the box set book, and it wouldn't matter if u had 1st or 2nd edition books memorized, so i wont give a thumbs dumb because why would u do that, but really guy, sure it's a great game but like it's gonna matter if they don't get the chance to play it, and the making of statements like this 1, just makes it to where copyright infringement, and piracy issues, and older devoloper monetary issues r brought to the fore, and things like what it's required to play this game normally will be vanquished, blackballed from being able to be to be found, they won't give folks a chance to screenshot the answers and questions even, u just plain out wont be able to access the material, and it could be easily avoided if u would have done the basic rundown and mentioned the typical reality of it, instead of showing feedback by others, that the fact that these sources wont be avaible at all sometime, but now it will likely happen even faster, thats the trend of everything as ive seen so far, free entertainment is a 'no no', u can't even play solely single player games that u paid full price for on steam, without having a password, and maybe being online to verify it, which should be unusually illegal, but look at north korea, 20 websites, maybe all windows 98, whats legal or not is more alike to what the whole is gonna force u to do if they can.

Great Review. I am also intrigued by the setting of the game (more so than the gameplay itself). Since I'm not very knowledgable about DnD, is there a book or novel pertaining to Dark Sun so I can read about the lore of the game? I would love to see the setting in more details without having to play the game. Thank you!

4:48 Of course it's a little different from the "other" Gold Box games because this isn't a game using the Gold Box engine.

I've always wanted to play Dark Sun Online, but it appears to be a game that has been lost to time.

Hey. There is a MUD (text roleplaying game) based on this setting, very similar but changed as to not infringe on the D&D license. Check out Armageddon MUD! (armageddon.org)

Bruh, you forgot about how a lot of the interactions with NPCs can effect the late game. You can kill everyone in the gladiator holding pens, and escape, or you can follow that until the end after 9 fights and get the trust of the top tier gladiators, and escape with them, and they'll be there to help you at the end game. The story isn't much, true, but the interactivity between NPC stories is really well done.

This was probably my favorite D&D game to play in the 90s. I don't remember if I ever played the sequel, but I've heard it isn't that much different.
