Also known as Rock ‘n’ Roll Racing 2: Red Asphalt in Euro region.

The way the game is played is similar to the original rock ‘n’ roll racing. You race your way through 4 planets with 6 races each and then face off with the boss in the arena. You get to buy and upgrade you car between races. I play as Motormouth as the games narrative revolves around him anyway. You earn xp after each race and can assign it to different attributes of you character until maxing them out. I don’t really notice if anything changes in the game though. The faster the cars get, the lighter the controls feel and the game becomes really twitchy as the slightest turn can spin the car.

The video opens playing the various intro cinematics and car cinemas. I then play through all the races to show all tracks, even when I had earned enough points to jump to next planet. Strangely, I feel the vehicle got worse with every new car I bought. More powerful, but would hardly hit the enemy and instead would hit the road in front of me, or in the case of the lock on shots..completely miss.

00:00:00 – Intro and other movies.
00:11:20 – Los Angeles
00:36:30 – Varkon 7
01:02:30 – Tranzine
01:29:40 – Retalia
01:56:00 – Drakar, the arena of death

I can't believe it's the sequel to SNES/Genesis Rock n' Roll Racing that had licensed soundtrack. They could put like 15 popular rock/metal songs on the CD but they gave it a typical instrumental music found in most racing games at the time. Too bad.

We lived for the road,
We lived for the heat of battle.
We lived…For the dream.

I adore the difficulty level in this game. They made it just right, and the art style still looks as awesome as it did when i was a kid! Back when they knew how to make games fun. Replayed it recently. I wish a remake with the same style was possible. Interplay Entertainment made some great hit games in the '90s. Also you play excellently 🙂

The cutscenes.. damn. I really like the post-apocaliptic/futuristic aspect of this game.
Nowadays it's so rare to get to play games like this on today's generation of consoles.

Обалденная игра, но с гейплеем беда в том, что всё слишком быстро. Часто бывает, что просто не успеваешь в поворот и тыкаешься в стену. Не знаю зачем так, но это очень жирный минус. В остальном она великолепна.

08:40 Unmistakable voice of Tony Jay. Utterly superb.

Jim Cummings' too. What a pair of voices to have in this game. Takes me right back to the SatAM cartoon villains.

This is one of the most pathetic games I have ever had the misfortune of playing. The music and the story are amazing but the actual racing is so shite it's unreal. It'd be so much better if the tracks weren't angular deathtraps. You can't focus on combat because you need to be expecting a corner to just appear from nowhere. It's fucking awful.

loved this game. Rock n roll racing 2: red Asphalt was one of my favourite games as a kid. The soundtrack is awesome too. Played it so much. So many good games on ps1 before internet was a big thing so people never heard of them.
